Independence made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Slaughter Community Charter, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Tigers put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 7-0 win on Thursday. Considering the Tigers have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The victory was the third in a row for Independence, bringing their record up to 14-12. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Slaughter Community Charter, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Independence will face off against East Feliciana at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Slaughter Community Charter, they will challenge Port Allen at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pelicans have averaged an impressive 10.2 runs per game this season.
