Baseball Recap: North Star Triumphs

North Star took an eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against Williamsburg, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Cougars won by a run and slipped past the Biue Pirates 8-7.

Brady Meyers made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, Bryson Durst was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. He has become a key player for North Star: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-6 otherwise.

The victory got North Star back to even at 6-6. As for Williamsburg, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.

Coming up, North Star will challenge Berlin Brothersvalley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Williamsburg, they will square off against West Branch at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
