Softball Recap: Gainesville Comes Up Short

Gainesville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 17-1 to the Sanger Indians, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Leopards were not able to make up for their loss to the Indians from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Gainesville's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Sanger, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 13-5-3.

Looking ahead, Gainesville will face off against Celina at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Celina has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.56 runs per game on average), something Gainesville will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Sanger, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 8-2 win against Bonham on the 31st.
