Softball Recap: Skyline Wins Going Away Against Juanita

Skyline had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Juanita on Wednesday. The Spartans blew past the Ravens 9-2. The Spartans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Ravens, too.

Elin Aageson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits.

At the plate, Skyline got a massive performance out of Shea Staley, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-5. Those two home runs gave Staley a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Elle Sexton, who scored three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

Skyline was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Juanita only posted a batting average of .259.

Skyline pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Juanita, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Looking ahead, Skyline will challenge Snohomish at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Juanita, they will face off against Lake Washington at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for the Ravens and eight for the Kangaroos.
