Basketball Recap: Whitefield Academy Comes Up Short

It was fun while it lasted, but Whitefield Academy's undefeated season came to an end after eight games on Saturday. They were dealt a 67-38 loss at the hands of the Frederick Douglass Broncos. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Wildcats, who until this contest were averaging 28.33 points allowed.

Despite the defeat, Whitefield Academy had strong showings from Noel Smith, who went 6 for 8 on her way to 22 points and five rebounds, and Mia Braffet, who posted ten points and five rebounds. Smith's evening made it nine games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Whitefield Academy fell to 8-1. As for Frederick Douglass, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
