Xavier has gone 8-2 against Hand recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Falcons will venture away from home to square off against the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Xavier is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Connecticut's top teams: Shelton, who was ranked sixth at the time (Xavier was ranked 24th). The Falcons came up short against the Gaels on Monday, falling 3-0. The Falcons haven't had much luck with the Gaels recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

While Xavier ultimately came up short, they really made Shelton work, particularly in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 26-24, 25-19.

Meanwhile, Hand was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 32nd straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 3-0 to New Milford.

While Hand was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-15, 27-25.

Hand's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Xavier, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.

Xavier took their win against Hand when the teams last played on May 5th by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
