Preview: New Home Leopards vs. Ropes Eagles
The New Home Leopards will head out on the road to face off against the Ropes Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as New Home comes in on nine and Ropes on four.
New Home stacked a eighth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Morton 54-6 at home. Given New Home's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 492nd, while Morton is ranked 1110th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Logan Addison, who rushed for 181 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries. Addison was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 57 yards. Caleb Cook was another key contributor, rushing for 36 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Ropes didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Plains on Friday, but they still walked away with a 25-19 win.
New Home's victory was their 12th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-0. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 36.08 points. As for Ropes, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Everything came up roses for New Home against Ropes in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 54-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for New Home since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
