Softball Recap: Mcguffey Beats East Allegheny for Their Third Straight Win

McGuffey had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the East Allegheny Wild Cats a 10-0 shutout. With that victory, the Highlanders brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.

Not much got past Makenna Crothers, who gave up just a hit and racked up 15 Ks to keep East Allegheny off the board. Those 15 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Crothers.

On the hitting side, Sidney Dobrzynski was incredible, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Miley Main, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

McGuffey pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for East Allegheny, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-4.
