Softball Recap: Centerburg Gets the Win

Centerburg's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Big Walnut Golden Eagles by a score of 6-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-2 back in March.

Morgan Beaver spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Abby Herren was incredible, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jazmyn Larimore, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Centerburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Big Walnut only posted a batting average of .160.

Centerburg's win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Big Walnut, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-9.

Coming up, Centerburg will challenge East Knox at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Big Walnut, they will be playing at home against Highland at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Eagles are facing the Fighting Scots at the right time seeing as the Fighting Scots are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
