Softball Recap: Yreka Sets Scoring Season-High Against Willamina

Yreka was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 16-15 heartbreaker at the hands of the Willamina Bulldogs. One positive for the Miners, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Emmie Freitas was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Macey Howell, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Yreka's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Willamina, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Yreka is taking a road trip to face off against Etna at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Willamina, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Grant Union at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
