Basketball Recap: DC International Comes Up Short

After flying high against BASIS last Tuesday, DC International came back down to earth. The DC International Dragons took a hard 68-49 fall against E.L. Haynes on Thursday. The Dragons were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced E.L. Haynes earlier this season, when they won 59-41.

When it comes to explaining why DC International lost, don't look at Gavin Moore. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 11 to rack up 22 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds. That's the most assists Moore has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Muhammad Tall, who scored ten points.

E.L. Haynes' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jekhi Hatcher, who put up 21 points and eight boards. Damien Smith was another key player, putting up 14 points.

DC International's defeat dropped their record down to 15-14. As for E.L. Haynes, they pushed their record up to 12-9 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

DC International has already played their next contest, a 67-66 victory against SEED DC on the 7th. As for E.L. Haynes, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 44-43 win against Washington Latin Public Charter School on the 7th.
