Softball Recap: Renaissance Academy Starts Season with Victory Against Calvary Christian Academy

Renaissance Academy had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the Calvary Christian Academy Cougars on Monday. That's more bragging rights for the Knights, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Sam Reynolds was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Reynolds was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gabby Anderoni, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Ella Grenier, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two RBI.

Calvary Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Renaissance Academy will take on MAST Community Charter at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Calvary Christian Academy, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Calvary Christian Academy Cougars challenge Faith Christian Academy Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
