Eureka had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.5 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They blew past the Erie Red Devils 70-26. Given the Tornadoes' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while the Red Devils are ranked 310th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Erie lost, don't look at Kylie Hodgden. Despite the final result, she posted seven points. Another player making a difference was Jacksen Powell, who had nine points.

Eureka pushed their record up to 14-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.7 points over those games. As for Erie, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season.
