Providence Academy dropped their record down to 7-3-1 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted Lakers by a score of 5-4. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 6-5 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since May 16, 2024.

For Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted's part, Kirsten Heber spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on ten hits and racked up 15 Ks. Those 15 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Heber.
