Baseball Preview: Ursuline Fighting Irish vs. Geneva Eagles

The Ursuline Fighting Irish will head out on the road to challenge the Geneva Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

Last Tuesday, Ursuline didn't have quite enough to beat Cardinal Mooney and fell 3-1. Ursuline has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Anthony Triveri put in work while hitting and pitching. He pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (he also only allowed one walk). Triveri was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last match, Geneva made sure to put some runs up on the board against Lakeside on Wednesday. Geneva was the clear victor by a 15-2 margin over Lakeside. Geneva's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Like Ursuline, Geneva also got a great game from a two-way player: Shea Arkenburg. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Arkenburg was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Hewitt Wilt was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Kean Arkenburg was another key contributor, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
