Sun Valley Magnet is a perfect 8-0 against Discovery since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Pioneers will head out to take on the Warriors at 2:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Sun Valley Magnet has three straight wins, Discovery has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Monday, Sun Valley Magnet got the win against Community Charter by a conclusive 14-4. The result was nothing new for the Pioneers, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Manuel Marquez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last 12 games he's played.
In other pitching news, Diego Loredo looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Manuel Baltazar, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Luis Marquez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Discovery didn't have quite enough to beat Lakeview Charter on Tuesday and fell 11-9.
Discovery's loss dropped their record down to 1-10-1. As for Sun Valley Magnet, their record is now 11-7.
Everything went Sun Valley Magnet's way against Discovery when the teams last played back in April, as Sun Valley Magnet made off with a 14-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pioneers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
