Softball Preview: Spring-Ford Rams vs. Methacton Warriors
The Spring-Ford Rams will head out to take on the Methacton Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Spring-Ford proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by seven) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Boyertown 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rams have posted since April 1st.
The home team had won the previous six meetings between Methacton and Perkiomen Valley, and Methacton kept the tradition alive. The Warriors came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 8-4 on Monday.
Sadie Fitch was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played.
In other batting news, Kaitlin Pettine was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Avery Kenney was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Methacton has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Spring-Ford, their record is now 12-5.
