Basketball Game Preview: Washingtonville Wizards vs. Warwick Wildcats

Washingtonville is 1-9 against Warwick since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Washingtonville Wizards will challenge the Warwick Wildcats at 6:30 p.m.

Last Friday, Washingtonville had to suffer through a 54-23 loss at the hands of Saugerties. The Wizards have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Warwick put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Newburgh Free Academy by a score of 54-43. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Goldbacks are ranked 315th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Warwick's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.5 points per game. As for Washingtonville, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.

Washingtonville was taken down by Warwick 55-22 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can Washingtonville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
