Baseball Game Preview: Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans vs. Pine Creek Eagles

Fountain-Fort Carson is 1-9 against Pine Creek since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Trojans will host the Eagles at 4:00 p.m.

Fountain-Fort Carson is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Vista Ridge.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Pine Creek, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Liberty with a sharp 11-1 win on Thursday. Considering the Eagles have won five games by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Aiden Wilson made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tristan Mullis, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs. Jake Holm was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Pine Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .545 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Pine Creek pushed their record up to 9-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Fountain-Fort Carson, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.

Fountain-Fort Carson suffered a grim 14-3 defeat to Pine Creek when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
