Basketball Game Preview: Colleton County Cougars vs. Beaufort Eagles

The Colleton County Cougars are taking a road trip to take on the Beaufort Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Tuesday, Colleton County didn't have quite enough to beat May River and fell 39-37. The matchup marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Beaufort was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Bluffton and fell 69-31. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 239th, while the Bobcats are ranked 33rd).

Beaufort's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Colleton County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-8.

Colleton County came up short against Beaufort in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 58-48. Can Colleton County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
