Geneseo never let their opponents score on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Quincy Blue Devils with a sharp 16-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Maple Leafs, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Geneseo got a great performance from Kendyl Wassenhove as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Wassenhove has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Avery Kennedy was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Penny Kline, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Geneseo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .641. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Quincy only posted an OBP of .176.

Geneseo's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-8. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Quincy, their loss dropped their record down to 11-19.

Geneseo and Quincy could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Maple Leafs will square off against LaSalle-Peru at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (63 vs. 19). Meanwhile, Quincy (ranked 326th) will meet Sacred Heart-Griffin (ranked 132nd) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
