Baseball Recap: Fayette Takes a Loss

Fayette was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 9-3 to the New Bloomfield Wildcats. The Falcons were not able to make up for their loss to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in May of 2021.

Payton Oeth put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Oeth wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Craig, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Austin Kunze also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Fayette's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for New Bloomfield, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-3.

Looking ahead, Fayette will head out on the road to face off against Glasgow at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for New Bloomfield, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Montgomery County at 5:00 p.m. Montgomery County's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so New Bloomfield's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
