Basketball Game Preview: Owen Warhorses vs. Madison Patriots

The Owen Warhorses will square off against the Madison Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Owen knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 20 matches -- so hopefully Madison likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Owen earned a 70-58 victory over Avery County.

Owen got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Asante Martin out in front who went 7 of 16 en route to 20 points in addition to eight boards and five assists. Martin has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jackson Warnock, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, Madison ended up a good deal behind Mountain Heritage on Friday and lost 70-51. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 483rd, while the Cougars are ranked 177th).

Madison's defeat dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Owen, their victory bumped their record up to 15-5.
