Recap: Woonsocket Villa Novans vs. Bishop Hendricken Hawks
On Thursday, the Woonsocket Villa Novans faced the Bishop Hendricken Hawks in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Woonsocket had to suffer through a rough 73-28 loss at the hands of Bishop Hendricken. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Woonsocket in their matchups with Bishop Hendricken: they've now lost eight in a row.
Woonsocket's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aaron Kelly, who scored five points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamaury Barr, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Woonsocket's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Bishop Hendricken, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with that victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.
Woonsocket won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Westerly at 7:15 p.m. on December 22nd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Rhode Island (Westerly is ranked 14th, while Woonsocket is ranked 23rd). Bishop Hendricken will finish 2023 at home by hosting Nazareth on December 30th.
