Recap: Wheat Ridge Farmers vs. Adams City Eagles
The Wheat Ridge Farmers had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They managed a 34-30 win over Adams City. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Wheat Ridge also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2022.
Wheat Ridge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gianna Bergren, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Vanaiha Galdean, who scored 10 points along with 3 steals.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Fernanda Hernandez, who scored 8 points along with 10 rebounds and 5 steals. Another player making a difference was Erika Contreras-Gomez, who scored 4 points along with 9 rebounds.
Wheat Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Adams City, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Wheat Ridge will be playing at home against Thornton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Adams City, they will take on Lakewood at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Lakewood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 34 on Tuesday.
