Basketball Recap: Mountain Pointe's Loss Ends Seven-Game Winning Streak at Home

Mountain Pointe and Central squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Mountain Pointe had to settle for second. They took a 69-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Central Bobcats. The Pride were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bobcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2019.

Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grant Mattingly, who shot 67% from the field en route to 17 points and three steals. Mattingly is on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 47% in the last ten games he's played. John Mattingly was another key player, putting up 21 points in addition to eight boards and five assists.

Mountain Pointe's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points over those games. As for Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 19 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-3 record this season.
