Softball Game Preview: Maryvale Prep Matador vs. Chandler Prep Titans

The Maryvale Prep Matador will head out to square off against the Chandler Prep Titans at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Maryvale Prep is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

Maryvale Prep fell victim to Bagdad and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 20-0 to the Sultans. The game marked the first time this year in which the Matador were not able to get on the board.

Chandler Prep never got on the board in their matchup on Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Leading Edge Academy - GEC on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 24-18 victory. Considering the Titans have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Chandler Prep got a massive performance out of Kate W, who scored five runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Cara Ramey, who scored three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

Chandler Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .586. The last time their batting average was this high was was before the start of last season.

Chandler Prep's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.8 runs over those games. As for Maryvale Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.

Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Maryvale Prep hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .486. However, it's not like Chandler Prep struggles in that department as they've averaged .400. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
