Softball Game Preview: Crestview Cougars vs. Western Reserve Roughriders

For the second straight game, Crestview will face off against Western Reserve. The Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Roughriders at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Crestview: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Western Reserve has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.

On Thursday, Crestview earned a 9-4 win over Western Reserve.

Mallory Ringler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits.

At the plate, Allison Volz was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Hillman, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

Western Reserve's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Crestview, their victory bumped their record up to 11-9.

Western Reserve's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Crestview has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game.
