Baseball Recap: West Covina's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

West Covina waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Wilson Wildcats with a sharp 10-1 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-2 on Tuesday.

Gavin Betancourt was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Michael Gutierrez, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs.

West Covina's record is now 16-10. As for Wilson, they dropped their record down to 6-10 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Covina will welcome Charter Oak at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Chargers' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Wilson, they will face off against Northview at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
