Recap: Covenant Academy Patriots vs. Calvary Baptist Eagles
The Covenant Academy Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. Their rough 68-44 loss to Calvary Baptist might stick with them for a while. The game was a 18-18 toss-up at halftime, but Covenant Academy was outscored by Calvary Baptist in the second.
Leading Calvary Baptist to victory were Sam Guisler and Tyler Wilson. Guisler scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks, while Wilson scored 21 points along with seven rebounds. Guisler continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cannon Hargrave, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Covenant Academy's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-3. As for Calvary Baptist, their win bumped their record up to 8-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Covenant Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on The Covenant Preparatory School at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Calvary Baptist's road trip will continue as they head out to face Founders Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
