Football Game Preview: James River Midlothian Rapids vs. L.C. Bird Skyhawks

James River Midlothian is 2-8 against L.C. Bird since November of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Rapids will head out to face off against the Skyhawks at 7:00 p.m. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Jordan Clarke and Tyrell Allen.

James River Midlothian's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Huguenot on Wednesday. They were beaten by the Falcons 54-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Rapids were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, while L.C. Bird put up some points last Friday, the same can't be said for Cosby. The Skyhawks were the clear victors by a 21-0 margin over the Titans. Considering the Skyhawks have won four contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

James River Midlothian better keep an eye on Thomas Delbridge. He was instrumental in L.C. Bird's win, rushing for 115 yards.

L.C. Bird didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Jaylen Tyler led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself.

The victory made it two in a row for L.C. Bird and bumps their season record up to 5-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.5 points over those games. As for James River Midlothian, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.

James River Midlothian was taken down by L.C. Bird 31-0 in their previous meeting back in August of 2024. Thankfully for the Rapids, Corey Holland (who rushed for 108 yards and two scores on only 13 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
