Baseball Recap: Atchison County Takes a Loss

Atchison County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Doniphan West Mustangs. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2021.

Max Bottorff was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Atchison County's loss dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Doniphan West, they pushed their record up to 15-5 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Atchison County will challenge Jefferson County North at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Doniphan West, they will host Riverside [Wathena/Elwood] at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
