Softball Recap: Mater Academy East Las Vegas Sets Scoring Season-High Against Cheyenne

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mater Academy East Las Vegas). They never let the Cheyenne Desert Shields get on the board and left with a 21-0 win on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won eight matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Telisha Sayles was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Ireland Sheehan, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3.

Mater Academy East Las Vegas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .719. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory (which was Mater Academy East Las Vegas' third in a row) raised their record to 11-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cheyenne, they dropped their record down to 4-8 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, Mater Academy East Las Vegas will challenge Del Sol at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Cheyenne, they will take on Awaken Christian at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.07 runs per game on average), something the Desert Shields will no doubt try to take advantage of.
