Preview: High Point Eagles vs. Glenelg Gladiators
The High Point Eagles and the Glenelg Gladiators will round out the year against one another at 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday at. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with nine consecutive losses dating back to last season for High Point and three for Glenelg.
High Point fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Northwestern last Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 56-55 to the Wildcats. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
High Point's loss came about despite a quality game from Kadan Solomonraj, who scored 25 points along with seven rebounds and five blocks. Solomonraj scored a full 45.5% of High Point's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ibrahim Turay, who scored 13 points along with nine assists.
Meanwhile, Glenelg ended up a good deal behind Liberty on Thursday and lost 57-41.
High Point's loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-4. As for Glenelg, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Everything came up roses for High Point against Glenelg when the teams last played back in December of 2018 as the squad secured a 77-50 win. Will High Point repeat their success, or does Glenelg have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
