Soccer Recap: Giddings Comes Up Short

After flying high against Caldwell last Friday, Giddings came back down to earth. The Giddings Buffaloes fell just short of the Taylor Ducks by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. The contest was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but the Buffaloes couldn't quite close it out.

Their goal came courtesy of Kashlyn Martinez, who's now up to two this season.

Giddings' defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-4. As for Taylor, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3-1 record this season.

Giddings has already played their next game (against Manor New Tech), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Taylor will be playing in front of their home fans against Rockdale at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Rockdale has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with four straight losses, while Taylor will come in with four straight wins.
