Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Union Lions vs. Grove City Christian Eagles

The Liberty Union Lions will head out on the road to challenge the Grove City Christian Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

On Saturday, Liberty Union came up short against Hamilton Township and fell 68-61.

Meanwhile, Grove City Christian hadn't done well against Wellington School recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Grove City Christian breezed by Wellington School to the tune of 68-37. The Eagles pushed the score to 66-29 by the end of the third, a deficit the Jaguars cut but never quite recovered from.

Grove City Christian's win came from a few key players Liberty Union will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jadunn Harris, who went 7 for 8 on his way to 15 points and seven assists. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Brunicardi, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 17 points and six rebounds.

The victory (which was Grove City Christian's third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for Liberty Union, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Liberty Union strolled past Grove City Christian in their previous matchup back in February by a score of 69-54. The rematch might be a little tougher for Liberty Union since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
