The Pace Academy Knights will take on the Westminster Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Pace Academy came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but they unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against McIntosh, falling 3-0.
While Pace Academy was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into McIntosh's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-16, 25-17.
Meanwhile, Westminster entered their tilt with Cartersville on Tuesday with 10 consecutive wins but they'll face Pace Academy with 11. They came out on top against the Purple Hurricanes by a score of 3-1.
The victory didn't come easy: Cartersville scored at least 19 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final set scores wound up at 25-20, 22-25, 25-23, 25-19.
Pace Academy better keep an eye on Sophia Alston. She was instrumental in Westminster's win, getting 17 kills, 11 digs, and four aces. The team also got some help from Kiran Chen, who had 24 assists, eight digs, and three aces.
Pace Academy's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-16. As for Westminster, they have now won 18 of their last 19 games at home. That gives them a 36-5 record this season.
Pace Academy beat Westminster 3-1 in their most recent meeting on October 19, 2024 two seasons ago. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Wildcats' Sophia Jo, who had 26 digs and two aces. Now that she won't be playing on Thursday, will it be easier for the Knights to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
