Volleyball Recap: Girard Comes Up Short

Girard was the 2-1 winner over McPherson when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Trojans fell just short of the Bullpups by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. While the Trojans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bullpups 25-19 in the first set.

Girard started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The final score came out to 19-25, 25-14, 25-7.

Maddie Coester paced Girard's offense, picking up seven kills. Coester got some help from Emilee Hanks and her 14 assists.

Girard's defeat dropped their record down to 21-10. As for McPherson, their victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-4-2.

Girard wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Paola on the 4th. Hopefully McPherson paid attention to the Trojans' match: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
