Softball Recap: East Central Has No Trouble Against Batesville

East Central won the last time they faced Batesville and things went their way on Monday too. The Trojans' pitchers stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 20-0 shutout. That looming 20-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Trojans yet this season.

Paige Hotze was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kasey Knapp was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Delaney Donawerth, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run and three runs.

East Central lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive matches.

East Central now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Batesville, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
