Volleyball Recap: Edison's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Edison posted their closest win since March 1st on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Sierra Timberwolves, sneaking past 3-2. Winning may never get old, but the Vikings sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Edison took Sierra into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 28-26, 25-12, 19-25, 20-25, 15-13.

Vince Tanega paced Edison's offense, picking up 15 kills. Tanega got some help from Jose Rios and his 43 assists. Tanega also made an impact serving: he shared the team lead in aces with Dylan Groyon, racking up two apiece.

Despite the loss, Sierra saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Manolo Asuncion had 28 digs. With that strong performance, Asuncion is now averaging an impressive 12.6 digs per game. Kevin Gracia was another key player, getting 16 digs.

Edison pushed their record up to 16-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Sierra, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-11 record this season.

Edison wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Tokay on the 14th. As for Sierra, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Oakdale on the 14th.
