Baseball Game Preview: Garden City Cougars vs. Annapolis Cougars

Garden City is 8-2 against Annapolis since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. Garden City will look to defend their home field against Annapolis at 4:30 p.m. Garden City will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

Garden City had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 17-run drubbing they dealt Annapolis on Monday. Garden City was the clear victor by an 18-1 margin over Annapolis. Considering Garden City has won 15 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Ethan Krol and Andre Davis made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Krol tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Davis pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. At bat, Krol got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Davis went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Ethan Armstrong was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Ethan Vanbelle was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Garden City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Annapolis only posted an OBP of .391.

Garden City's win was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 23-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Annapolis, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-10.
