Basketball Game Preview: Madison County Mountaineers vs. Rappahannock County

The Madison County Mountaineers will face off against Rappahannock County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Madison County is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 63 points on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Clarke County on Friday. They had to suffer through a 69-14 loss at the hands of the Eagles. The defeat continues a trend for the Mountaineers in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost seven in a row.

Meanwhile, Rappahannock County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 34-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of Luray. The game marked Rappahannock County's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Madison County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Rappahannock County, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.

Madison County might still be hurting after the 60-36 defeat they got from Rappahannock County in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Madison County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
