Baseball Recap: Hilltop Wins Going Away Against Gorham Fayette

Hilltop won the last time they faced Gorham Fayette and things went their way on Thursday too. The Cadets were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Eagles. The Cadets not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 17th (when they won 14-1).

Cameron Schlosser was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Hilltop is undefeated when Schlosser posts two or more runs, but 4-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, Terry Rebeck was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Hilltop's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Jiannuzzi, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Hilltop always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gorham Fayette only posted an OBP of .111.

Hilltop is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. As for Gorham Fayette, their defeat was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hilltop will head out to face off against North Baltimore at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Gorham Fayette, they will square off against North Central at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
