Baseball Recap: Vincennes Rivet Victorious

Vincennes Rivet took a 11-run loss the last time they faced off against Mt. Vernon, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Patriots skirted past the Wildcats 3-1. While the Patriots didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Brody (Bo) Shots was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Vincennes Rivet's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Mt. Vernon, they dropped their record down to 1-10 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Vincennes Rivet will challenge North Knox at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mt. Vernon, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Princeton at 5:30 p.m. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
