Volleyball Recap: Izabella Ruiz and Saige Timmerman Secure Win for Newsome + How To Watch

Newsome won the last time they faced Sumner and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Wolves were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Stingrays.

Newsome was especially dominant in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-19, 25-21.

Leading Newsome to victory were Saige Timmerman and Izabella Ruiz. Timmerman had 18 assists, while Ruiz had seven digs and one assist. That's the most digs Ruiz has posted over her last five contests.

Despite the loss, Sumner had strong showings from Victoria Benitez, who had 17 assists and seven digs, and Alana Mitchell, who had 11 digs. Mitchell has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last seven times she's played.

Newsome is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Sumner, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three matches and leaves them with a 9-8 record.

Coming up, after both having extra time off, Newsome and King will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sumner, they will challenge Bloomingdale at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
