Basketball Game Preview: Patrick County Cougars vs. Glenvar Highlanders

The Patrick County Cougars will venture away from home to square off against the Glenvar Highlanders at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Patrick County turned things around against James River on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Knights by a score of 58-48.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Glenvar against James River on Thursday as the squad secured a 54-21 win. Given the Highlanders' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Knights are ranked 341st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Glenvar is also on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Patrick County, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-10.

Patrick County ended up a good deal behind Glenvar in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, losing 73-55. Can Patrick County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
