Softball Recap: Jefferson Extends Winning Streak to Five

Jefferson entered their tilt with Lake Mills on Thursday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the L-Cats a 10-0 shutout. With that win, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Hildie Dempsey and Aeryn Messmann made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Dempsey tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Messmann didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Dempsey has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Dempsey fired off two home runs, four RBI, and one stolen base while going 3-for-5, while Messmann scored a run while going 2-for-4. Those home runs marked the first that Dempsey launched this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ashlyn Enke, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bre Mengel, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Jefferson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.
