Football Game Preview: Independence Knights vs. Anna Coyotes

The Independence Knights will face off against the Anna Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Independence is looking for their season's first win.

Independence is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took a blow against Liberty on Friday, falling 63-35. The Knights were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-14.

Despite the loss, Independence had strong showings from Jeremy Thompson, who gained 198 total yards and a touchdown, and Jack O'Connor, who threw for 220 yards and one TD.

Meanwhile, Anna's game on Friday was all tied up 21-21 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell 40-34 to Melissa. The Coyotes haven't had much luck with the Cardinals recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Defeat or not, Anna got some senior leadership from Ziondre Williams and Ace Traylor. Williams rushed for 70 yards and a pair of scores, while Traylor rushed for 63 yards and two touchdowns.

Independence's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Anna, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Independence took a serious blow against Anna in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 70-29. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Williams, who threw for 287 yards and six TDs while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushed for 52 yards.
