Basketball Game Preview: De Soto Pirates vs. Ithaca Bulldogs

The De Soto Pirates will take on the Ithaca Bulldogs at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. De Soto is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.4 points per game this season.

Ithaca is hoping to do what Seneca couldn't on Tuesday: put an end to De Soto's winning streak, which now stands at three games. De Soto strolled past Seneca with points to spare, taking the game 52-35.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead De Soto to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sylvia Krueger, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. Krueger has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last four times she's played. Kylee Venner was another key player, putting up 11 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.

De Soto smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 24 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, after only 24 points in their last contest, Ithaca made sure to put some points up on the board against La Farge/Youth Initiative on Tuesday. Ithaca enjoyed a cozy 55-36 win over La Farge/Youth Initiative.

De Soto's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Ithaca, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
