Basketball Recap: McLaughlin Comes Up Short

McLaughlin lost against Lemmon back in December of 2018 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The McLaughlin Mustangs took a blow against the Lemmon Cowboys, falling 57-27. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while the Cowboys are ranked 18th).

This is the second loss in a row for McLaughlin and nudges their season record down to 5-10. As for Lemmon, the victory was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-1.

McLaughlin has already played their next contest (against Cheyenne-Eagle Butte), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Lemmon won't have much time to rest: their next game is against New England at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for New England: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Lemmon has snatched up seven consecutive wins on the road.
